Home-School Family Worker

My name is Mrs Jan Preston and I have been known across John Ray Infant School, Junior and Notley High as the Campus Community Liaison Officer.  I have been in post 6 years and am employed to work across the three schools to support parents/carers and young people.  Although my title has changed I am still doing the same work.  I am based in one of the demountable classrooms on the Junior School playground. I can offer home visits to support families and I liaise with school and other agencies when required.  My work centres on promoting good home school links and positive parenting.  I am trained in behaviour management which includes managing difficult behaviour and anger management.   I have a helpline on a Wednesday between 9.30 am - 11 am.  I run a drop in at the Infant School on Thursday between 9 am – 10 am.  I have a drop in for Notley Students on Tuesday between 3.15 – 4.30 pm and I am at Notley Wednesday 1pm – 1.45 for students.  I can be reached on Monday – Thursday by telephone on 01376 332193 with an answer phone facility which is confidential.  At present I am running a six week course for parents on Ways to Develop your Parent Skills  which I hope to run twice yearly depending on requirements.

School Counsellor

My name is Jeannie Smith and I am the counsellor who comes into school one day a week, at present, on a Tuesday. I see five children by appointment for individual counselling sessions during the course of the day, and run a Drop-In during the lunch time for children to come to if they have issues they want to talk to me about. I also meet parents and set up contracts and reviews with them.
